Product name changes
Bellamy’s Organic CEO, Laura McBain was named 2013 Telstra Tasmanian Business Woman of the year in a gala ceremony at Hobart’s Wrest Point Casino in October. On the same night Laura was also awarded winner in both the Private and Corporate Sector and Business Innovation categories.
Bellamy’s Organic is Australia’s leading provider of Australian made and certified organic baby formula and foods.
During the acceptance speech, Laura paid tribute to the previous winners since the awards inception in 1995, “I am well aware of the extraordinary successes of the alumni of the Telstra Business Women’s awards and am humbled by my admission to these ranks”.
Laura rose to the rank of CEO after originally joining Bellamy’s Organic as General Manager in 2007. Whilst at the helm Laura has overseen dramatic growth in market share as well as the commencement of an active export program to Asia throughout China, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Vietnam and New Zealand.
“I hope that through winning this award, women in regional Australia can see that location is no barrier to success. It is possible to have a head office in Launceston and outpost offices in Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Melbourne!”[responsive_vid]
CEO Laura McBain was recognised in the Business Innovation category for her role in developing the Bellamy’s Organic Formula and Toddler Milk Range, which is designed for children from birth to 3 years. Laura offered that in Australia, more and more mums are looking for an organic milk alternative and that she is really excited to continue to grow distribution to make Bellamy’s Organic products more accessible to more mums.
“Bellamy’s Organic and I are committed to helping mums give the next generation the right start to a long and healthy life and we offer a safe, Australian, organic alternative to other formulas in the market”.
Laura described ‘empowerment of women’ as a common synergy between the mission of Bellamy’s Organic and the Telstra Business Women’s Awards. “A primary vision I have for Bellamy’s Organic is that I see our products can help empower women to return to the workforce after having children, without compromising on providing the best for their child’s nutrition”. Laura stated that her goal is to continually improve a mother’s ability to provide a pure start to life.
“I hope that through this award I will be able to affirm that it is possible to have a successful career and family life, and that through integrity and perseverance women can lead industry and be amazing. And rule the world”.
Laura will represent Tasmania at the Telstra Business Women’s awards in her successful categories on November 14th at Melbourne’s Crown Casino.
